Procter & Gamble: Store Audit

Procter & Gamble are a multi-national, blue-chip company with an extensive portfolio of well-known household products. Lites Group were requested to carry out a distribution and pricing audit across all of Ireland, taking in 35 stores. With many of their products distributed from a central area to the convenience stores, Procter & Gamble were very interested in the types of products that make it to the shelves and also the prices being charged.

Initially gaining a list of 160 distribution products and 147 pricing products, Lites Group set out to minimise the time spent in each store while maximising the information fed back to Procter & Gamble.

Each Lites office was briefed on the objective and mechanic of the activity and requested to contact each store to gain full authorisation from the store managers. By co-ordinating the individual offices, Lites personnel were able to conduct the audit over a 2-day period, with full feedback to Procter & Gamble within two days of the activity being completed.

In addition, Lites Group were able to provide Procter & Gamble with store brand knowledge and advise if any calls could not be completed. Additional outlets were then sourced and visited within 72 hours.

Procter & Gamble gained essential product knowledge from this activity allowing them to be pro-active in their response to the store brands. The customer was very happy with how the project was handled and the speed with which the information was relayed, so much so that the activity is now carried out on an 8-weekly basis.
